We are making our way through the last of the weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Nothing is worse than laying down at night just to realize your furnace won’t kick on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should swap out standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem ridiculous, but verify the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you review all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
