What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Roland J. Down Service Experts is here with a couple of the most common A/C problems in Albany.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioning system working but there isn’t cool air being produced, you may need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air being produced by your system is actually cool. Call Roland J. Down Service Experts and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your air conditioner is not blowing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

The reason your condenser fan may not be rotating could be that it just burned out and you need to replace the fan. Humidity could cause more condensation so another matter to watch for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is restricted. If you can verify these issues, you may be able to pinpoint the problem; if not, give Roland J. Down Service Experts a call and we can look into what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and discuss your options to get your system working again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering your thermostat. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your system cooling, check the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it could cause major cooling problems. Another thing that could cause your lack of cooling is that your air conditioner is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Roland J. Down Service Experts will come out and perform an analysis to determine if the size of your equipment is causing your problems.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your AC is short cycling, or turning on or off continuously, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all blockages removed, you may be back in business. Keep in mind that humidity also plays a part so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to heat up quickly, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the system is having to work harder to keep your home comfortable.

No matter your problem, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, Roland J. Down Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get you comfortable quickly.
