Service Experts of Raleigh Helps Man Go Above and Beyond for His Neighbor

June 29, 2016

Back in May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh got a call from a man named Jimmy from the Raleigh area who told us about a very exciting project he was working on for his neighbor Kyla.

Kyla Tracy is a sweet nine year-old girl who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, sometimes referred to as brittle bone disease. She depends on a wheelchair to move around and her house was not wheelchair friendly, mainly due to the size of the equipment. When Jimmy learned about the issue, he considered remodeling the Tracy family’s house to make it entirely wheel-chair friendly. But because of the age of the home, the task was going to be more work than he initially planned. Undefeated, Jimmy decided to try turning the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair accessible mini-suite, which would include Kyla’s own bathroom, playroom, bedroom, and dining area.

Ready to get started, Jimmy started calling local businesses, including plumbers, electricians, and building supply companies and everyone said they would be honored to help and contribute services and supplies. He contacted Service Experts of Raleigh for the HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) piece of Kyla’s new mini suite. Our Service Experts employees went to Kyla’s home to learn more about the project and were amazed by how smart and sweet Kyla was and they knew they had to help.

Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he assumed he would pay for the $12,000 heating and cooling equipment for his daughter’s new apartment, but with the help of Lennox and RE Michel, Service Experts of Raleigh was able to hand the Tracy family an invoice printed with the following:

“We are more than honored to present you with a total heating and AC system at not cost as long as we can all have a hug.”

The team at Service Experts of Raleigh were humbled to help provide such a precious girl with a much-deserved place to live and get around in her wheelchair efficiently and safely. But there’s still more to do. Kyla’s family is raising money to purchase a wheel-chair compatible vehicle to better transport Kyla and her family.
